Now I Know the World is Round

Join us on a journey about the end of life. Now in its second publication, The World is Round is a compilation of stories from my experiences in healthcare. Copies may be purchased directly from me. They can also be found at Ingham’s Pharmacy in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba.

The world is round. And stories are also, in a way, round. We long for the satisfaction of an ending that brings us back home, that assures us that all is as it should be. But sometimes we only get to see a part of the journey, a piece of a life’s story. Mary Louise Chown is our guide, showing us the power and the gift of being present in the moment, listening for what may be needed and offering what we can with humility and joy. The stories, both personal tales and folktales, are a wonderful resource, as is her practical advice, but even more valuable is her invitation to accompany her as she accompanies the dying and their families – sharing stories, playing music, listening, simply being.

This is an important addition to Palliative Care Education and I hope you will publish it. The people’s stories are very engaging. The suggestions in section 3 are excellent. – Sharon Carstairs

The book is excellent and should be inspiring and useful for others. – Miceal Ross, Storyteller, Dublin Yarnspinners, Dublin, Ireland
